Nourishing students beyond the classroom
The Weekend School Meal Program partners with more than 30 schools in and around Red Deer to help provide weekend meals for over 250 children each week during the school year.
Each week, food bags are prepared at The Salvation Army and delivered directly to participating schools for distribution to students and families in need. The program is designed to help reduce food insecurity and ensure children have access to nutritious meals outside of school hours.
